This past Friday night was the home opener for the BHS football team. Even after resigning from 17 years of coaching Freshmen football at BHS, I still enjoy attending the Varsity football games. I especially enjoy watching how our Track & Field kids do on the football team. This year is particularly meaningful as my own son, Ben (thrower), is now starting at defensive tackle for the Indians. We have quite a few other members playing as well (Wes Eades (sprints/LJ), Andrew Hoover (mid-distance), Jarod Jackson (hurdles), Wes Murray (sprints), Jake Stafford (hurdles/HJ), Justin Bailey (thrower/sprints), etc.). Another great aspect of going to those games is to visit with our alumni. This past friday night I had the opportunity to see several past members of the Track & Field squad. Among them were: Steve Hess (sprints) and his wife Jennifer Gould Hess (team manager), Brian Zickefoose (sprints), Fred Smart (distance) and Jake Wedemeyer (400m). It was great to catch up with all of them and see where life has taken them.

Another Friday night, another set of alumni… This week I got to talk with two more of our past team members: Pat Secreto (400) and Dustin Hottsinpiller (400). Both are well and still reside in the area. Maybe someday we can have a reunion for all the T&F team members past and present.
